***Just a reminder that the Six Flags Reading Forms are due back on Friday, February 23rd to receive a free child’s ticket to Six Flags for reading with your child for a total of 6 hours!J
***Reminder that we are doing our School Wide Service Project - Be A Force for Great Things! - running through Friday, March 2nd.  Our goal is to raise $750 for Joshua's Great Things Foundation. http://joshuasgreatthings.org/  Joshua Brown was a student here at Whiteside Elementary and passed away from battling cancer in June of 2013. His sister, Allison is a student at the middle school. We are asking every student here at Whiteside to donate $1 and prizes will be raffled off every Friday to those who donate. The grade level that donates the most money will earn a Star Wars movie and popcorn party with the principals in the mpr!!!J
***Young Author Books are due next Wednesday, February 21st.  If your child writes a book, with help from parents of courseJ, he/she will be entered into a contest for each grade level and will also get to have cookies and milk with the principals!J

The kids are doing a wonderful job learning their new Popcorn Words!  Please keep reviewing the words that we have done so far: a, are, and, but, come, came, find, from, how, I, is, like, me, my, many, now, of, on, see, so, the, to, this, we, with, what, where, you. As we learn them, I will be checking them occasionally and sending a progress sheet home so you can see how your child is doing.  You can use index cards to create flashcards and play games such as memory or “find the word”, as well as using them to create sentences.J  Thanks so much for all of your hard work with the popcorn words and hope you enjoy playing the games with your child!  The extra practice at home makes such a HUGE DIFFERENCE!!!J
Next week we will be studying the letter Dd.
` ***Congratulations to this week’s “Star Students”
