And NO SCHOOL on Friday, October 26th
Thanks so much to all of you who came in for our Parent Teacher Conferences last night and I’m looking forward to seeing the rest of you tomorrow!  If you aren’t able to make it and need to reschedule, just let me know and we will find a better time for you.J

***Our Halloween Party will be on Wednesday,
Oct. 31st from 1:30-2:30!
Our long awaited Halloween Party is almost here!  We would love to have any of you who are able join us to come and help out!  We still have three parties coming up this year for Christmas, Valentines, and End of the Year if you are unable to make it to this one. We would love to have you here on Monday!  If you think you will be able to come and would like to contact our room mom to help at the party, her name is Melissa Maddox and her email is:  MELISSAMMADDOX@GMAIL.COM
**Just a reminder that younger siblings cannot attend the parties, sorry.
Everyone is invited to join us for the fun!!!J
***Just a reminder that we will not be wearing costumes for our party.

Please continue to practice the sight words, or "POPCORN WORDS", that were on the orange October pumpkin that was sent home earlier in the month.  If you need another copy please let me know.  You will be receiving a full list of all of our sight words for the whole year at our conference so you can keep track of them better.J  We have also been working hard on writing our names and the alphabet letters the “school way”, which means touching the lines at the top, middle, and bottom.  Please be practicing all of their words at home to help reinforce what we have already learned.  It makes such a HUGE difference! THANKSJ
Please be reviewing the books that have been coming home with your child and have them pick out all of their “popcorn” (sight) words for you.  It is wonderful practice for them to read to you at home. It is amazing how fast they are picking them up, so thank you for reviewing them at home too!!!  They should be getting a good collection of easy reader books to keep in their book boxes! J
If your child has not finished their October pumpkin reading sheet, it is not too late to return it and he/she will receive a certificate for a free personal pan from Pizza Hut!  They can still turn it in each month as soon as it is finished!
Next week we will still be working on the letter Dd and doing fun Halloween Activities!J

Our Book Fair will also be going on that night from 4:30-7:30, along with our 6th grade band performing at 5:30 and our Glee Club singing at 6:15!
Hope you can join the fun!!!J

Please keep reviewing all of the letters and sounds of the alphabet, numbers 0-10, shapes, colors (and now we are learning color words), counting to at least 25 and AB patterning along with the new sight words (popcorn words) that have been introduced.  So far we have 3 popcorn (sight) words that we have learned: I, like, the.  Remember to be watching for the black and white easy reader books that have been coming home.  Please have your child read them to you, sign your name, and have your child return them for a treat and sticker. ThanksJ
***Next week we will be starting over with the alphabet working on
Letter Aa for a whole week.  Since I have already given a quick introduction of all of the letters, we will now be really focusing on their sounds and handwriting, as well as centering all of our activities around the letter of the week!J
***A weekly letter of the week homework will start going home at the beginning of each week.  They will be due by Friday, or whenever your child finishes them, and then he/she will get a chance to share their homework with the class.  These will have a small fun project to do with the family, and also a handwriting practice page, to help reinforce and practice each letter that we are working on.  I truly appreciate all of your support at home to help you child complete these as much as they are able to do on their own.  Their homework is also a fantastic way to help build their responsibility!J
