***To celebrate Dr. Seuss’ Birthday, we will be having a fun dress up week to go along with some of his amazing books!!!

Monday –  Cat in the Hat   Wear stripes or red and white!

Tuesday –  Green Eggs and Ham   Wear green!

Wednesday –  Fox in Socks   Wear mixmatched/crazy socks!

Thursday –  If I Ran The Zoo   Wear animal print or camouflage!

Friday-  The Sleep Book   Wear pajamas or comfy clothes!

Monday, March 2^nd is Dr. Seuss' birthday so we will be celebrating and talking a lot about rhyming with all of his books.  I am sending home a Dr. Seuss Special Reader’s sign-up sheet so you will have the opportunity to come in and read your favorite Dr. Seuss book to our class!  The kids are really looking forward to it!  Please sign up for a time that works best for you and if you can’t find a spot, just let me know and we will work it in!

            The kids are doing a wonderful job on their Popcorn Words!  I will continue checking them each week and send a progress sheet home so you can see how your child is doing.  Thanks so much for all of your hard work working with them at home.  It truly does make such a tremendous difference!!! 

***A HUGE THANKS to all of you for helping your child find opposites to bring in!  The kids had so much fun with their hands-on learning today!

***Our rest towels will be coming home for a cleaning today.

 Please return them on Monday, thanks!

**Parent Teacher Conferences Tuesday, February 25^th from 4-7:30  and Thursday, February 27^th from 4-7:30

**No School Friday, February 28^th for Teacher Institute

***Monday, Feb. 24^th will be the last day we are taking donations for  our Whiteside Character Fundraiser called

EVERY HERO NEEDS A SQUAD!!!

For each dollar brought in by the kids, the money raised will go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to help fight against cancer.  It will also help out families around our area who have been effected by these diseases helping to offset their costs of travel, food, and lodging.  Each dollar will also earn your child a raffle ticket to be entered into a drawing each Friday through Monday, February 24^th for prizes!!!  Our goal is to raise $1,500! 

Thanks so much for your support! A HUGE THANKS to all of you who sent in a fruit or vegetable for our taste test today!  The kids had a fantastic time learning about and experiencing all of the food groups this week!!!

            The kids are very excited about their “Popcorn Words”(Sight Words) and doing a wonderful job on them!J  Some kids though have been really struggling with them, so please be checking folders for the sight word sheets from the previous months that I have been testing on.  This will help you keep up with your child’s progress and help with what he/she needs to practice.J  I will continue checking them each week and send a progress sheet home so you can see how your child is doing.  Thanks so much for all of your hard work helping your child to learn our words we have been working so hard on here at school!  Extra reinforcement at home makes a tremendous difference!!!J
