***The WS Spaghetti Dinner is coming up on Wednesday, October 9^th from 4:30-7:00!!!J 

You must have a ticket to purchase a dinner.J  

Our Book Fair will also be going on that night from 4:30-7:30, along with our 6^th grade band performing at 5:30 and our Glee Club singing at 6:15! 

Hope you can join the fun!!!J

***Book Orders are Due Today if you would like to order.. You can order online by going to  www.scholastic.com/bookclubs.  To sign up, go to the parent page and click the “Register” button in the “First Time Here?” section.  Register your own user name and password.  Then it will ask you for your Class Activation Code.       Our Class Activation Code is:   J2JT9 

The books will be sent to the classroom and then I will send them home with your child.J

   

       Please keep reviewing all of the letters and sounds of the alphabet, numbers 0-10, shapes, colors (and now we are learning color words), counting to at least 25 and AB patterning along with the new sight words (popcorn words) that have been introduced.  So far we have 4 popcorn (sight) words that we have learned: I, like, the, and.  Remember to be watching for the black and white easy reader books that have been coming home.  Please have your child read them to you, sign your name, and have your child return them for a treat and sticker. ThanksJ

      

***Next week we will be starting over with the alphabet working on

Letter Aa for a whole week.  Since I have already given a quick introduction of all of the letters, we will now be really focusing on their sounds and handwriting, as well as centering all of our activities around the letter of the week!J

***A weekly letter of the week homework will start going home at the beginning of each week.  They will be due by Friday, or whenever your child finishes them, and then he/she will get a chance to share their homework with the class.  These will have a small fun project to do with the family, and also a handwriting practice page on the back to help reinforce and practice each letter that we are working on.  I truly appreciate all of your support at home to help you child complete these as much as they are able 

to do on their own. Their homework is also a fantastic way to help build their responsibility. Thank you!J

You are welcome to bring a lunch for you and your grandchild, but adults won't be able to purchase a lunch, sorry.  Moms, Dads, Aunts and Uncles are also allowed to come for this special lunch! 💕

***Kindergarten Grandparent Lunch will be next Friday, September 20^th at 12:30.

Grandparents, aunts, uncles, or parents are invited to come and eat lunch with your child.  Adults will need to bring their own lunch, but you are also able to bring lunch for your child if you would like.  Try to arrive about 15-20 minutes early just to check in with the office and find out where to go.J

    ***Please remember to check your email about our classroom blog!  I had sent out a lot of invitations last week, but I added some more this week.  If you did not receive an email, please go to the WS Website http//www.wssd115.org then go to Kindergarten, next classrooms and you will find my name.J I have taken a picture of all of my kiddos who brought their book treasure box back to school and will be putting their pictures on our blog, so be sure to check it out because they all look AMAZING!J

ThanksJ

     Starting today there will be a special visitor who will start going home on the weekends!   His name is Brennan Bear and he is our classroom mascot!J  Each Friday I will draw a different name and that child will have the opportunity to bring Brennan Bear home and spend the whole weekend together!  He has his own special backpack with a binder inside where you can write down everything that Brennan and your child did during their special time together!  We want to know about all the fun that they had!!!  Your child will also be “Student of the Week” for that coming week.  There will be special papers in the binder for you to fill in telling us all about your child.  You are also welcome to send in any special pictures of your child that he/she would like to have displayed in the room during his/her special week!  If you take any pictures of your child with Brennan Bear, you are welcome to attach them to your child’s page in the binder or send them in to put up in the room.  Brennan Bear will come back on Mondays, and your child will get to share all of the neat things that they did together from their journal page along with looking at their pictures and paper for “Student of the Week” and “All About Me Poster”.  The kids are so excited!!!

***Reminder that if you haven't done so already, please send $10 for our classroom parties this year.  This money will be used to buy supplies for all 4 parties we will be having this year.  Thank you so much for your help!!!J

***Our Yankee Candle Fundraiser Ends Next Friday, Sept. 13^th!!!

***Reminder that your child can bring in his/her first Family Project, the book treasure box, whenever it is finished!  It is due on Friday, Sept. 13^th.  The ones that have come in already have been AMAZING!!!

We can’t wait to see the rest of them!!!J

***Next Wednesday, Sept. 11^th, will be RED, WHITE & BLUE DAY!!!

       Remember to be reviewing and practicing the letters and sounds that we have been studying at school.  So far we have gone over the letters the letters Aa-Ll.  Don’t forget to practice the numbers at home also.  I will be checking the numbers 0-10 for recognition and we are trying to count to at least 25.  I will also be checking shapes, colors, and making an AB pattern(ex. red, blue, red, blue…).  The end of the first grading period is Friday, Oct. 11^th.  As you know, we have been trying to write our first names the school way now.  Please try to help your child practice using a capital letter first, and then all the rest of the letters are small.  Progress reports will be coming up very soon and parent teacher conferences are on Oct. 22^nd and Oct. 24^th.  A conference sheet will be coming home in your child’s folder next month so if you know which day or time would work best for you, please let me know.  You will need to sign it and return it as soon as possible to make sure that time will work for you.  Thank You!
